I started Echoes of Rylia as kind of on a lark. After working in the hard-boiled, action and horror genres for a couple of years, I thought I’d give the fantasy-adventure genre a try to try to grow as a writer. It ended up being a worth-while aside. I had a good time writing the dragon character, Dirge. As the last dragon on earth, he’s not particularly mentally-healthy. The other characters also proved interesting: a man and a woman from a small village who set out to rescue a prince and princess, the aforementioned prince and princess kidnapped by Dirge, a Machavellian knight and an evil king, plus other assorted characters in orbit around these main personalities.
